Transgender Discrimination

Your Rights As a Transgender Person in the Workplace

Discrimination Against Transgender Employees in NYC

New York City prohibits discrimination against transgender people in the workplace. The Transgender Rights Bill in New York City was passed to provide protections for transgender individuals against discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.  Under the NYC Human Rights Law, gender is defined as gender identity, self-image, behavior, and expression.

Transgender individuals have many workplace rights which employers are required to accommodate. For example, transgender employees have the right to be called by their preferred pronoun. Employers are also
prohibited from requiring transgender employees from using single-occupancy bathrooms, or implementing a dress code based on perceived gender stereotypes.

If you are transgender and believe you are being treated unfairly at work because of your gender identity, contact us today. We will listen to your story and determine what the appropriate course of action should be. It is our job to provide the knowledge and support you need to pursue legal action against discrimination. We will aggressively fight for your right to retain your position in an environment free of harassment and hold responsible parties accountable for their harmful actions.
