Lactation Rooms, Facilities and Policies in New York City

Lactation Rooms and Breastfeeding Rights at Work for Mothers

As of March 2019, the New York City Administrative Code requires employers to provide shielded private lactation rooms specifically for breastfeeding mothers.  The lactation rooms must include a chair, electrical outlet, and surface for the breast pump.  In addition, employers must provide a refrigerator suited for breast milk storage.

This is great news for mothers getting back into the workplace after childbirth.   Read More about Pregnancy Discrimination here.
